One of my photography projects in 2024. This series showcases the refined essence of the Novotel October Hotel Rooms (King & Twin), designed by El Ghoneimi International, where contemporary hospitality blends with thoughtful spatial design. The photographic approach highlighted the interaction between natural light, artificial lighting, textures, and geometry, creating a visual narrative that enhances the spatial experience and atmosphere.
The interplay of soft daylight and artificial lighting was crucial in defining the mood of the space. I leveraged natural light to create depth, and highlight the material contrasts. The warm, diffused glow of interior lighting complements this by adding a sense of intimacy and comfort, reinforcing the hotel’s inviting ambiance. A key challenge in photographing this project was conveying the artificial lighting design alongside natural daylight.
The lighting scheme plays a vital role in shaping the ambiance, yet daylight often softens its presence. The solution was to shoot the rooms in separate exposures — natural light only and artificial light only — and then blend them. This technique emphasized the layered lighting experience and reflected the designer’s vision of a space that transforms throughout the day.
